Sugar Cookies
I got this recipe from a friend, Anne, on the Kingston Peninsula. It is the best sugar cookie recipe!

Cream together;
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar

Add and beat in;
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Mix in;
1 1/2 -2 cups flour (use only as much as needed) (flour for rolling should be included in this)

Roll out and cut into Christmas shapes. Sprinkle with coloured sugar. Put onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in 375 F oven for 8-10 minutes.
